Frankfurt celebrates the Day of Religions: 1200 guests at the interreligious dialog

On Sunday, September 29, the Frankfurt Day of Religions took place for the seventh time in the Römerhallen. With around 1200 visitors, the event was a great success and provided a platform for exchange and discussion about religious diversity. Eight religious communities were represented, including the Christian churches, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and the Bahai.

The event, which was organized by the Office for Multicultural Affairs and the Frankfurt Council of Religions, was all about dialogue. Guests had the opportunity to learn about rituals and traditions, immerse themselves in conversation and sample a variety of culinary delights. The topic of "Religion and Generations" was addressed in several panel discussions, with believers from different age groups sharing their perspectives.

Mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg praised the work of the Council of Religions, which has played a key role in interfaith dialog in Frankfurt for 15 years. She emphasized: "For many people in Frankfurt, religious places and networks are an important part of their lives. I would like to thank the religious communities for their commitment beyond the 'core business' of religion, especially in social issues, healthcare and in combating discrimination and racism."

Nura Froemel, Chairwoman of the Council of Religions, added to the Mayor's words: "At a time when the political climate is charged and wants to divide us, it is important to pull together. The different generations are complementary players who can overcome the challenges shoulder to shoulder - this is also what the religious communities teach us."

The event's stage program was diverse and included music, dance and prayer recitations. Those present were able to experience the different perspectives on the role of religion in everyday life and society. The importance of religion for people who have come to Frankfurt for various reasons was also particularly emphasized.

The Day of Religions thus remains an important part of intercultural dialogue in the Rhine-Main region and contributes to strengthening mutual understanding and respect among the various faith communities.
