MRE is a new art mecca: since its opening on June 23, 2024, the Museum Reinhard Ernst has welcomed around 60,000 visitors from over 20 countries in the first 100 days. As museum director Dr. Oliver Kornhoff and founder Reinhard Ernst announced at a press conference, the museum has quickly become a crowd-puller. The guided tours are particularly popular: Almost 17,000 guests took part in around 700 group tours.
The museum opens exclusively for school classes and educational institutions in the mornings and has already recorded over 1,500 participants in 100 educational group tours in the first few months. Due to the high demand, these dates are fully booked until December.
In 2025, the museum is planning an extensive exhibition of works by the American artist Helen Frankenthaler, which will include almost 50 paintings - the largest private collection in the world. The special exhibition starts in March 2025 and will present large-format works by the artist in Germany for the first time in almost 25 years.
