Frankfurt's population continues to grow: increase of 4943 inhabitants in the first half of 2024

Frankfurt am Main continues to record steady population growth. As of June 30, 2024, 775,109 people lived in the city, which corresponds to an increase of 4943 people compared to the end of 2023 - an increase of 0.6 percent. Councillor Eileen O'Sullivan presented the latest figures on population development.

The most populous districts are Gallus with 44,854 inhabitants and Bockenheim with 44,064 inhabitants. The fewest people live in the Bahnhofsviertel (3765) and Berkersheim (3854).

The growth is mainly based on the influx of people with foreign citizenship, whose number increased by 3569 people. The German population also recorded an increase of 1374 people. The largest foreign population group is made up of people with Turkish citizenship (24,548), followed by Croats (15,151).

"With a migration share of 57.4 percent, Frankfurt reflects its role as an international city," emphasized O'Sullivan. The city stands not only for economic strength, but also for peaceful coexistence in a pluralistic society.
