Congratulations go to Seligenstadt: the "Glaabsbräu 1744 kellertrübes" from the oldest brewery in southern Hesse and one of the most innovative breweries in Germany has been awarded "Platinum" in the category "Kellerbier" at the international Meininger´s Craft Beer Award 2020. This means that the Cellar Beer of the Year 2020 comes from Hesse! Really nice news - especially since the beer was able to prevail against strong competition. In total, more than 1000 beers from all over the world were submitted to the seventh edition of the renowned competition. The 45 international beer experts tasted the diverse beer specialties for a total of 4 days, in order to award only the best with a medal at the end.
Brewmaster Julian Menner from Glaabsbräu accepted the award at a virtual award ceremony at the end of July. "This is a high appreciation for our brewing team and our all-natural brewing philosophy. This year of all years, with all the difficulties caused by the Corona Lockdown, we are particularly pleased that our Glaabsbräu 1744 was named Cellar Beer of the Year" "The award winners reflect the full diversity of beer. A true showcase of the art of craft and creative brewing," said Benjamin Brouër, beer expert and board member of Meininger's Craft Beer Award.
"We see this medal as great recognition for the excellent quality of our Glaabsbräu 1744 kellertrübes. We are particularly pleased that Germany and especially Hesse has been awarded with this type of beer," adds Robert Glaab, brewery owner and beer sommelier.
Glaabsbräu brews each of their beers individually according to their own recipe with natural aroma hops and the highest quality raw materials. The beers are all-natural, with no additives, no chemical stabilizers, and color beer. Thus Glaabsbräu brews their beers more demanding than the purity law. The brewing process is overall Co2 neutral and drinking water saving.
