The first Christmas markets have already celebrated their opening, elsewhere they are still preparing under high pressure. For example in Hochheim, where the popular Christmas market will take place from 07 to 09 December. The visitors should not notice anything of what is necessary in the background, so that a smooth process is guaranteed. Werner Mäding, the 1st chairman of the organizing craftsmen and trade association Hochheim e.V., knows that. (HGV). But he is sure that this challenge will also be mastered in 2018: "Now it is a question of not making any mistakes, not forgetting anything, and coordinating all activities exactly. We have a good organizational team, who are all fully committed to the cause", Mäding is pleased and is sure that this year's Christmas market will also be a worthy conclusion to the Hochheim festive calendar.
"When selecting the stalls and positioning them, we placed a lot of emphasis on bringing variety, Christmas flair and experience into harmony with each other," he reports, "that wasn't always easy and required a lot of discussion." Adding variety this year are additional courtyards open in the old town areas, new unusual stalls and the inclusion of more local initiatives and associations, such as Antoniushaus and the Heinrich von Brentano School booster club.
Family-friendly and local should be the "Christmas market of Hochheim". Thus, in addition to the actual market hustle and bustle, the town library, Kirchstr. 17, will be open, where cookies will be baked and Christmas decorations will be made. The museum of local history at Kirchstr. 13 will also be offering Christmas craft courses with felt, a historic children's carousel will be available, and in the Zehntscheuer, the results of a state-sponsored art project by the Edith Stein School can be admired. "And of course, at Rathausstr. 9, Santa Claus will again read the Christmas story," adds Mäding, "while again asking for donations for a social cause."
"Everything is geared up for us to get started on the Monday after the first Advent" Mäding explains the challenge of the coming weeks. Then electricity and water must be laid, the permanent huts set up, craftsmen and stand operators coordinated, legally necessary inspections carried out and - decorated for Christmas. "Our plan stands," he is sure, "this year we will again have an atmospheric Christmas market in Hochheim!"
So visitors can look forward to a particularly beautiful and festive Christmas market again this year. The festive happenings will extend from the plan over the Rathausstraße to the Kälberplatz, respectively through the Kirchstraße to the church Peter and Paul. In addition to the typical Christmas stalls, many clubs, schools and social institutions will participate with stalls, in courtyards and with unusual offers. The Hochheim Christmas market is the third highlight in the calendar of events of the city of Hochheim, in addition to the wine festival and the traditional Hochheim market.
