Music and dance under the Frankfurt sky: Kulturerwachen inspires with free open-air events

From F.I.M. meets MOMEM, to "Super Discoteca Tropical" on the Mainkai via soundpark sessions in the saasfee*pavillon and swing shifts at the Fein kiosk. Since June, open-air events have been held free of charge in public spaces throughout Frankfurt, made possible by the "Kulturerwachen" funding program. This year, the program of the Department of Culture, the Crespo Foundation and Stiftung Polytechnische Gesellschaft focuses on musical offerings in public spaces that invite people to get together, eat, drink, dance and listen. In the final weeks of summer, there are still a few waiting to happen at www.kulturerwachen.de to discover.

On Thursday, August 24, Tanzhaus West invites at 6 pm to the well-known cultural summer garden THW on the Milchsackgelände. It plays the Hamburg Ace Tee as well as the two Frankfurt DJ Duo Buttmoney. Afterwards it goes from 22 o'clock purely to the DoDo club night.

The Frankfurt duo "The OhOhOhs" is again on Friday, September 1, with the mobile music pavilion on places in the city on the way and provides with its "Konzertanten club music" for danceable live music.

If you've always wanted to try your hand at dancing, ID_Frankfurt's "Tanzfest #2" on Saturday, September 2, is just the thing. At the Licht- und Luftbad Niederrad, there will be dance performances as well as dance-along opportunities for all ages in various dance styles, such as hip-hop, dance performances, Afrofusion, circle dances or children's dance. Childcare is also available.

On Saturday, September 23, the "Kids in the Backyard Show" will give their third concert at Café KoZ on the Bockenheim campus, and the Frankfurt concert group "ichi ichi" will close its open-air concert series a week later, on September 30. September, their open air concert series with a concert at 8 p.m. at MARS Bockenheim.

The joint initiative and the 260,000-euro funding pot of the Crespo Foundation, the Stiftung Polytechnische Gesellschaft and the city's Department of Culture and Science entered its second round this year. The funding program will be implemented for a third and final time next year. For constant improvement and adaptation, "Kulturerwachen" will also be evaluated during the events in these summer months - on the one hand by the artists themselves, and on the other hand by the Department of Culture and the Office of Culture.

The Crespo Foundation is a non-profit private foundation based in Frankfurt. The foundation was established in 2001 by the psychologist and photographer Ulrike Crespo (1950-2019) with the aim of supporting people in the crucial stages of their personal development, motivating them to develop their potential and take responsibility for themselves and others.
