Since the beginning of September, filming has been underway for the vampire series "Love Sucks". With the new series, ZDFneo is implementing the theme of "Romeo and Juliet" in a modern guise. Filming took place mainly in Frankfurt and the surrounding area, in the midst of the hustle and bustle at the Frankfurt Dippemess, in the DB high-rise on the 25th floor with a view of the skyline and on the market grounds in Hochheim am Main.
Frankfurt-Tipp was on set today and spoke with director Lea Becker and actors Damian Hardung (known from "The most beautiful girl in the world" and "Club of the red ribbons") and Rick Okon (known from "The boat" and the Dortmund crime scene).
"Love Sucks" becomes mystically seductive: A dark secret, a bitter enmity between families and true, absolute love - that's what awaits you in this captivating series. The main characters Ben and Zelda fight against all odds for their love.
Frank Zervos, ZDF main editorial director television film: "We were immediately excited by the idea of setting a vampire series at a fairground on the city limits, where time seems to stand still. And this in the middle of today's German banking metropolis Frankfurt, between skyscrapers and old mansions. Director Lea Becker told us that the market grounds in Hochheim, where the Hochheim Market is held every November, were the perfect location for filming 'Boxbude'. In Hochheim, the detail shots around the tent and the sequences that take place in the tent are shot. In the series, it later looks as if the tent is at a fair.
The series is directed by Andreas Prochaska and Lea Becker and features a top-class cast, including Damian Hardung, Havana Joy Josephine Braun, Rick Okon, Anne Ratte-Polle, Stipe Erceg, Dennis Scheuermann, Margarita Breitkreiz, Dana Herfurth, Lisa-Marie Koroll, Lotte Engels, Edita Malovcic, Eveline Hall, Paula Kroh, Charleen Weiss, Arne-Carlos Böttcher and many others.
