Roncalli celebrates grandiose premiere in Frankfurt

The Show must go on! Twice Roncalli had to cancel its tour, twice 120 artists, musicians, staff and the audience feverishly awaited a start. On Saturday, 15.10.2022 it was finally time - Roncalli celebrated a grandiose premiere and now guest with a new program and animal and plastic-free for 10 years again in Frankfurt.

Artistic highlights, lovable clowns and Roncalli's worldwide unique 300-degree holography in the circus round - a circensic spectacle between nostalgia and modernity. When audiences come to Roncalli, they want to see familiar faces. That's why Roncalli continues with the best artists of the last years and brings them together with new talents and innovations.

"We have so much to catch up on after these surreal times: 45 years of Roncalli, the new program "All for ART for All" and the 300-degree holography I invented and restaged, with which we already attracted worldwide attention on our last tour. The new program is my very personal homage to art and its great painters, musicians and filmmakers. We have used the last 2 years to perfect the new program and at the same time many circus wagons have been lovingly restored. We are back!" said Roncalli founder and director Bernhard Paul.

"ALL FOR ART FOR ALL", the title of the show, is a tribute to art and its artists. With a creative "stroke of genius" "All for ART for All" combines painting, film, music and, of course, the circus art to a unique total work of art. Costumes inspired by Piet Mondrian, Andy Warhol or Frida Kahlo alternate with a precisely recreated triadic ballet by Oskar Schlemmer. Music from Charlie Chaplin to David Bowie to the Beatles - perfectly arranged by orchestra leader Georg Pommer - accompanies the world-class artists in poetic modern choreographies under the circus dome.

"There is so much in the program title. In the word artistry also hides the word ART, like art. Our treatment of animals, which we do without in our shows, is also ARTful, because our animals have been "Roncallized" as fantastic holograms for years. In 2018, Roncalli was the first circus in the world to have holography in the ring. This was world news! More than 150 countries reported on it in the evening news," says Bernhard Paul.

The new Roncalli experience for the whole family
"All for ART for All" is, however, also a commitment by Bernhard Paul that art should be accessible to everyone. "What is taken for granted today was already liberalized centuries ago, especially by the circus. Circus art has always been close to the people - even the "elitist" arts have learned from this and do it better today. We love our audience and know what they expect from us," says Bernhard Paul.

Roncalli's Fairytale World
80 historic wagons, historic food trucks, 120 artists, musicians, performers and staff - what began with a dream has developed into one of the largest circus companies to date. Guests are enchanted in one of the most beautiful circus tents in the world, illuminated by over 10,000 cleverly designed energy-saving LED "bulbs" and brass lamps, bathing the entire Roncalli City in nostalgic light. Already at the entrance, artists in imaginative costumes greet spectators to the smell of cotton candy and roasted almonds accompanied by live music. A unique Gesamtkunstwerk, which carries away from the first to the last moment in a poetic magic world.
