Senckenberg for Future: "Climate Puzzle"

Senckenberg for Future: 'Climate Puzzle'

On Friday, the "Global Climate Strike" will again demonstrate worldwide for climate justice. Senckenberg invites on this occasion to the "Climate Puzzle". In this interactive workshop, young people and adults can learn basic knowledge about climate change in a playful way. The event will be co-hosted with the organization "Climate Fresk," which developed the innovative format.

With worldwide demonstrations, rallies, and strikes, "Fridays for Future" repeatedly brings movement to the political climate and biodiversity debate. The Senckenberg Nature Research Society welcomes these activities, which help to translate scientific findings into practical policies for the conservation of our natural life-support systems. In view of the currently again very clearly noticeable consequences of the global climate crisis - forest fires, drying up waters or extreme weather events - scientists from numerous research institutions regularly confirm the urgency of comprehensive action. Wherever possible, Senckenberg contributes scientific findings to social and political discussions so that decisions can be made based on knowledge and facts.

In this context, Senckenberg invites all interested parties to the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum Frankfurt on Friday, September 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to engage with climate change in a new way. The "Climate Puzzle" is a participatory, interactive group workshop in which the task of all participants is to understand the many components of the climate crisis and connect them causally. The information presented is based on the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and is visualized in a clear and understandable way using graphics and images. This method of expanding one's knowledge of the climate crisis, allowing insight into climate science, and sensitizing people to change has been used in over 50 countries since 2018 to create awareness of the climate crisis
