After a three-year break, the Frankfurt Bee Festival will be celebrated for the sixth time on Saturday, September 9, in the Botanical Garden. Here, from 12 to 5 p.m., Frankfurt bee lovers, beekeepers, honey lovers and nature-interested citizens will meet to exchange ideas about beekeeping, beekeeping, honey and changes due to climate change. A fine selection of locally produced honey from amateur beekeepers from Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region can be tasted at various stands. In addition, there will be various guided tours through the Botanical Garden and to the Zeidler trees there.
The beekeeping scene in Frankfurt is as diverse as the city itself. From hobby beekeepers with classic hives to conservation beekeeping to coveting, everything is represented at the festival. The event offers a unique opportunity to let the variety of flavors of Frankfurt honey melt in your mouth.
The Kirchhain Bee Institute and the Frankfurt Beekeepers' Association will be available to answer questions about bees in an expert manner. Local actors will provide information about plants, their diversity and protection, the creation of nature gardens and the Botanical Garden. Thomas Moos, the director of the Botanical Garden, will present the green gem in more detail on two guided tours. In addition, the Bee Embassy will offer a guided tour of the Zeidler trees in its care. Food and drinks will be provided by the Frankfurt association, the cooperative Suppengrün and the Steden wine press from Oberursel.
The sixth Frankfurt Bee Festival is organized and run on a voluntary basis by Iris Seehusen and Sebastian Wernig. The non-commercial event is 100 percent funded by donations. A donation table will be available at the entrance to the site for visitors willing to donate. Admission to the Bee Festival is free.
