The Pavilion of Democracy is coming to Frankfurt Bockenheim

04.10.2024 | 15:17 Clock | Citywhispers
The Pavilion of Democracy is coming to Frankfurt Bockenheim

After the stops in Nordend and Rödelheim, it is now Bockenheim's turn. There, more precisely on Carlo-Schmid-Platz in front of the Bockenheimer Depot, the Pavilion of Democracy will continue its tour through the city districts. It will be there on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10.

And once again, guests can expect an extensive program on the topic of democracy, in which schools, associations and initiatives from the Bockenheim/Westend district will participate. Mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg will open the program together with local mayor Thomas Gutmann on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Those who wish can make suggestions for the design of their district, tell their story in the "Storytelling" pavilion or get into conversation in the "House of the Many". There will be four thematic blocks on each day, which will be dealt with in various formats - panels, presentations and workshops.

Among other things, primary school pupils from the Frankeschule will be talking to the "Omas gegen Rechts" (grannies against the right), the Milena girls' office is organizing a dialogue with refugee women and schoolgirls, and pupils from the Max Beckmann School will be discussing with representatives from Amnesty International and the International Society for Human Rights (IGFM).

The Polytechnische Gesellschaft Foundation, the citizens' association Demokratieort Paulskirche and the Stabsstelle Entwicklung Paulskirche will discuss the question "What should be in the House of Democracy?". The women's office Bachtale Rom:nja, the Ada Kantine, the Zukunftsinitiative Bockenheim and the youth office Lichtblick will discuss how a self-determined life without discrimination, exclusion and racism can be possible.

In parallel, there will be offers such as a painting workshop and a bilingual quiz, and Eritrean finger food will be served. Local Advisory Council 2 will be represented with its own information stand. The program will be framed by music from the duo "Ramin and Serra". Admission to all events is free.

Further information on the program and photos of previous events can be found online at pavillon-der-demokratie.de. The next stop for the Pavilion of Democracy will be at Ettinghausenplatz in Höchst on Thursday, October 31 and Friday, November 1.
