You Are Here! - Suitcase Radio Concerts in the Palmengarten

Discover the Palmengarten musically - that's what you can do on the weekends of September 12 and 13 and September 19 and 20. On these four days, the Mousonturm and the Palmengarten will jointly offer visitors to Frankfurt's green living room an extraordinary concert performance: equipped with FM radios, visitors will stroll through the garden while listening to "Radio Palm Fiction", a station produced live in the middle of the park and only receivable there.

The radio program centers on trumpeter Paul Huebner, who is one of the most experimental in his profession. As a horn player, Huebner has a particularly hard time in these times of pandemic: "No distance between the trumpeter and the rest of the world seemed great enough. In order to overcome the enforced distance sonically, we set out in the pop-up radio studio to find a new band for Paul Hübner," say Theresa Beyer and Hannes Seidl, who initiated the music project. "In conversation and improvisation with musicians as diverse as Elsa M'Bala, David Helbich, Kamilya Jubran and Liz Kosack, we are conducting musical site assessments. With FM radios, the audience scattered across the garden becomes a large group amplifier, rooting for who will join Paul Huebner's new band."

The radios will be handed out to patrons directly behind the entrance area, Siesmayer Street entrance. The radios will only have reception in the Palmengarten. Participation is included in the Palmengarten admission (7 euros, reduced 3 euros). "Radio Palm Fiction" will be on the air from 1 pm on all days of the event. From 6pm to 8pm each day there will be a show with the various artists. These are on the following dates:

September 12: Oxana Omelchuk & Kamilya Jubran

13. September: Christoph Ogiermann & Liz Kosack

19. September: Naoko Kikuchi & David Helbich

20. September: Elsa M'Bala & Etienne Nillesen
