A cable car that floats from Kaiserlei in Offenbach to the ice rink in Frankfurt in less than ten minutes, relieving rush-hour traffic. This innovative idea of a new means of transportation for Frankfurt could actually take shape within a year and a half.
The newly elected mayor of Frankfurt, Mike Josef, paid a visit to his counterpart Felix Schwenke at Offenbach City Hall. In their talks, they shed light on the vision of a cable car link between the two cities, an idea that has already been presented at the S.O.U.P. Festival 2024 as well as the FrankfurtRhineMain Cable Car Day.
Since conventional road links are often overloaded, students from Darmstadt and Offenbach universities have recognized the traffic significance of such a cable car. The planned cable car, named "High_Line", should be able to transport up to 8,000 people per hour according to calculations.
Both the city leaders of Frankfurt and Offenbach support this visionary idea. Nevertheless, further information is needed to verify the actual feasibility of this project.
This potential cable car connection would not only help to relieve rush hour traffic, but also offer a new highlight to locals and tourists in Frankfurt. The latter could experience and enjoy the city from a completely new perspective.
