Frankfurt am Main is now officially one of the ten most important financial centers in the world. In the latest Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI), the city improved by three places to reach tenth place. Frankfurt has thus maintained its position as the leading financial center in the European Union, ahead of Dublin and Paris. New York continues to occupy the top spot.
Frankfurt scored particularly well in the infrastructure category. Stephanie Wüst, the city's Head of Economic Affairs, emphasized: "This ranking is proof of our continuous work in the financial location." Ansgar Roese, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt, also sees the ranking as international recognition: "Frankfurt is successfully asserting itself among the leading financial centers worldwide."
In addition to the traditional financial sector, Frankfurt also shows strength in the up-and-coming fintech sector: for the first time, the city overtakes Berlin and is now ranked 25th in the global comparison.
The responsible parties emphasize that topics such as sustainability and fintech remain central to the future of Frankfurt as a financial centre.
