Frankfurt: Warning strike in local transport - underground trains and streetcars expected to come to a standstill on Friday

Passengers on Frankfurt's local transport network will face considerable restrictions on Friday, February 21. Due to another warning strike, underground and streetcar services are expected to be suspended for the entire day. All nine subway lines and the city's ten streetcar lines will be affected.

As a central element of local public transport, the subway in particular is likely to hit many commuters and travelers hard. Nevertheless, alternative transport services will remain available: S-Bahn trains, regional trains and local and regional bus services will continue to run. However, increased passenger volumes are expected, particularly on bus services.

Recommendation: Obtain information and use alternatives

The municipal public transport company traffiQ and Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt (VGF) advise passengers to find out about the current situation immediately before starting their journey. This is possible via various channels, including the local radio stations, the RMV service telephone on 069/2424-8024, the website rmv-frankfurt.de and social media.

In addition, the online timetable information offers the option of searching specifically for available alternatives. Users can deactivate the underground and streetcar options in the settings and thus only receive connections with suburban trains, regional trains and buses.

These lines are running despite the warning strike:

  • All S-Bahn lines

  • Regional trains

  • Local Frankfurt bus routes and regional bus connections

Further information is available at the following online services:

Passengers are advised to look for alternatives in good time and switch to other means of transport if necessary. High capacity utilization of the remaining connections is to be expected, particularly at peak times.
